Sensory Kit Workshop - for adults
A 2 part workshop delivered by Rebecca, a local neurodivergent Occupational Therapist with a love for all things sensory!
Would you like more tools in your self-regulation toolbox? We are all sensory beings who process the world in different ways. When we know what calms us down or alerts us we can use this knowledge to create additional tools in our toolbox of self-management strategies. This is an opportunity for you to learn about your sensory preferences and explore strategies that work for you to develop a kit for ongoing use.
Session 1 - Saturday 22nd March, 1-3pm - Learning about sensory processing systems and patterns, exploring your own sensory preferences.
You will be provided with a handout with some background information and we will discuss and explore what sensory processing is, the different sensory processing patterns and systems.
There will be some practical activities and discussion to support understanding your sensory preferences - this is where we get to have a bit of a play!
The handout has space to make notes and has some prompt questions.
At the end of the session you will set some goals and strategies to try in between sessions
Session 2 - Saturday 29th March, 1-3pm - Using your new knowledge to create your own sensory kit.
We will check back in on goals, what you noticed and what helped
Then it’s time to get crafty and make your sensory kit!
I will have different sized shoe boxes available and various craft materials, as well as a range of sensory items.
Location: Rooms for Courage, 14 Junction Street, Tākaka.
The sessions are presented in a small group face-to-face setting of up to 8 people and facilitated by Rebecca, an Occupational Therapist. We will do a range of paper-based and practical activities, with time for discussion. You can share as much or as little as you like in the group.
